Weekly AI & Education Update: April 19, 2025

I am trying something new and seeing how much I can keep up with. As some of you know, I am collaborating on the Ai-for-education.org initiative through my work at the Team4Tech Foundation.

As part of that work we are focused on supporting education in under-resourced communities. In my role, I have to be sure to keep up with what is happening on a global scale.

So… I am going to try to share what I am learning about (let’s see how this works). Here is a recap from this week.

🌍 Africa

AltSchool Africa Launched ‘AI for 10M Africans’ Initiative. When fully implemented the program will provide AI education to 10 million individuals across the continent. The initiative offers courses in multiple African languages, including Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Swahili, French, Portuguese, and Arabic, to enhance accessibility and inclusivity. Recognizing the high smartphone penetration in Africa, AltSchool’s program is designed to be mobile-friendly, ensuring learners can access AI education from anywhere.

🌏 Asia
