The Importance of Being Uncomfortable

If you’re lucky you learn one important lesson: there is strength in being uncomfortable.

Every great problem has been solved at the point where we get frustrated enough to do something about it.

We get complacent as humans. How many times do we reuse something that should really be thrown away? How many times do we hold onto something that is duct-taped, just we can stay with using what we love? It gets to a point where it’s not out of necessity that we hold onto what we’ve always used or done, but out of comfort.

Discomfort is our window of opportunity, because we stop “duct-taping” our way through things and actually take the time and energy to solve our problems once and for all.

The approach of fixing is often connected to managers or trades people. Managers have either been (at a basic level) trained in activity facilitation or project management. Trades people have a deep knowledge of one specific area…
