Problem Solvers: A review

A friend recently sent me Patricia Hoover’s new book, “Problem Solvers: 15 innovative women engineers and coders.” As someone who advocates for EdTech and STEM, and of course, women (especially those who serve the field of education), I was excited to see what stories were selected to be included in the book.

In a nutshell, Hoover’s book highlights the achievements of 15 remarkable women who have made significant contributions to the fields of engineering and coding. Each chapter is dedicated to one of these women, and Hoover masterfully weaves together their personal stories with technical information about their work.

Her approach to storytelling makes the book an engaging read and helps us better understand the impact of these women’s accomplishments.

One of the things that impressed me most about “Problem Solvers” is the diversity of backgrounds and experiences represented by the women featured in the book. From Gwynne Shotwell, the president and chief operating officer of SpaceX, to Debbie Sterling, the founder and CEO of GoldieBlox, a company that creates engineering toys for girls, these women demonstrate that there are many different paths to success in the tech industry.
