Generation Beta: What comes next

3 min readJan 11, 2025

Generation Alpha is already making a strong impact, challenging and reshaping the way we think, learn, educate, and connect.

When I first strated writing about Gen Alpha they were already positioning themselves as change agents. They are weighing in, sharing opinions, navigating a misinformation crisis in real time, and much more.

The parents and families of Gen Alpha have demanded high-quality experiences that they themselves lacked. This often takes the form of differentiated educational programs, especially those that offer informal, self-directed, and engagement-based learning opportunities. Additionally, these parents are seeking choice and value in education, as expected. Families now have access to a broad range of educational options, including traditional public schools, charter schools, micro-schools, world-schooling, private tutors, and more.

This year marks the beginning of Generation Beta.

When Gen Alpha were toddlers, toddler tablets and plush learning toys were among the bestsellers. This year, as infants, Gen Beta is coming home to sensory mats, environmentally friendly toys, recycled materials, and electronic gadgets that can read and interact with them in increasingly sophisticated ways.
